The Student of the Year Award is dedicated to recognising the student who has shown director qualities in a project they have worked on in a business, employment or academic capacity.  It presents a unique
opportunity for student members to be recognised alongside IoD members and business leaders across the country.

PhD Researcher / Aspiring Entrepreneur






An optimist tech-geek and an avid explorer, Aishah is a high-energy professional originated from Singapore. To date, she has close to 10 years of working experience with footprints in Indonesia, Malaysia, and Singapore. Her strong background in IT operations, business process, and project management inspired her to pursue her research doctorate in Creative Technology with specialization in Big Data Analytics. Garnering a full Ph.D. scholarship by Bournemouth University, she is seconded to as part of her research fieldwork. Inspired by her Ph.D. research work, Aishah mooted the idea on with the aim of advancing SMEs companies in the European continent to take on a simple analytic solution.

Motivez Ltd



Muizz Oladele Almaroof is a director at Motivez Ltd and an OLE engineer on the Crossrail project. Upon growing up in south east London Peckham, he has always been inspired to find new innovative ways to help others. This passion to help others emerged and led him to develop the mobile application called Motivez which aims to help connect young people to profession and personal development events. Muizz has successfully gone on to win several pitching competitions whilst at university, featured in a south London owned magazine and Sixth college new letter.

Muizz is using his natural entrepreneurial spirit, skills and personal experiences to inspire a generation of young people to attend, with the hope of paving a more promising path for them so they can find their passion.

Photography Ethics Centre



Savannah Dodd is an anthropologist and photographer based in Belfast. In 2017, she founded the Photography Ethics Centre, a social enterprise that aims to raise awareness about ethics across the photography industry. Prior to founding the Centre, she worked in the development sector for NGOs and IGOs in Switzerland, Turkey, and Thailand. She earned her master’s in anthropology and sociology at the Graduate Institute of International Development Studies in Geneva (2015) and her bachelor’s in anthropology and religious studies at Washington University in St. Louis (2012). Alongside her work in the Photography Ethics Centre, she is pursuing her PhD in anthropology studying the politics of representation in photographic archives of post-conflict contexts at Queen’s University Belfast.

Rafael is a British-Brazilian Entrepreneur and winner of several business awards including The Sunday Times ‘Top 100 Most Inspiring Entrepreneurs in the UK.’ Rafael started his property business at the age of 21 and successfully sold it in 2014.

In 2013 Rafael wrote the book 'Moving Abroad, One Step At A Time' and 2016 the national report 'Migrant Entrepreneurs, the benefits to Britain', presented at the Houses of Parliament to the government. Rafael is an advocate for migrant entrepreneurs and has spoken around the world about migrant entrepreneurship, including the World Entrepreneurship Forum in China, and won an award for his TEDx Talk titled  ‘What it takes to be a migrant entrepreneur’ with over 155.000 views.

Answers Investigation


An Undergraduate studying Criminology at Portsmouth University, currently on placement with Private Detectives Answers Investigation. With an Investigation and Law background, I have a keen eye for the particular.  At a young age, I have much more to learn, however in my short tenure in business I have made a significant impact and will be accepting my placement's offer of a full time career when I graduate in May 2019.
